Living in the Moment: Lessons from a Sand Sculpture

Last October 2022, I was visiting a friend who lives in Kailua, Oahu. As I walked the beach, I came upon this amazing Sand Sculpture. As I consider the talent and time put into this masterpiece, I feel a sense of awe, appreciation, and gratitude. To have the talent to build such a life-like art piece and know that soon the tide will come and wash it away is not only honorable but inspiring. To be willing to create and feel in the present...not concerned about what will come in the future is a powerful reminder to all of us to live in the moment. Pursuit of Balance helps us do this, stay present and comfortable with not knowing what is to come. When we embrace this mindset, we can celebrate and truly live and honor what is happening now, in this moment in time. This picture, for me, represents the artistry, understanding, and awareness of the importance of now, this moment in time. This artist brings pause, contemplation, love, and curiosity to the moment. This is a reminder to all of us to do the same. To be open and fun-loving with what is here now, pumpkins, Jack-O-Lanterns, plants, and the reality of the tides.
