Yoga as a Tool to Feel Present
Ohmmmmmmmmmmmmm! Yoga has really become my choice of exercise. Along with walks, it is such a great time to check-in and identify “what is goi on in my body?” and a great opportunity to practice present moment focused awareness. This practice is also beneficial to balancing your chakras. Check out our resources page for the “Chakra Overview” link. Next time you venture out onto the mat, take a minute beforehand to scan your body and pick a chakra to focus on. Pay attention to your body while doing the correlating poses. Do you feel resistance? Do you have emotions that surface? Don’t try to figure out why during that moment, just acknowledge and let go. No judgment, just being self-aware. Yoga is one of the many ways that I keep myself feeling confident and positive. It is my time to get to know myself. If you have not ventured into the practice of yoga, I encourage you to start with a youtube video in your living room. Try it out and see what you think. There are so many different types of classes that are all beneficial: Vinyasa, Restorative, or Bikirm to name a few. What type of yoga is your favorite? What will you try next?
