Word of The Year: Resilient

2023 is already off to a hot start, many successes but also many failures are on the road ahead. We can try as best we can to be prepared for the failures in our life but most of them are unexpected and can change your world very quickly. Because it is hard to see some of the curveballs in life we must try to practice being resilient. Resilient means to withstand or recover quickly from difficult conditions or traumatic experiences. This has been one of my favorite terms lately (for better or for worse) and they're are a few ways that come to mind from my own experience to strengthen this trait for yourself.

One of the first ones that come to mind is establishing healthy habits that you truly enjoy. Could be exercising, reading, volunteering, etc; establishing healthy habits that are a part of you is not only important for mental health but after having a speed bump on the road to greatness it's important to know who you are and what makes you happy and grounded. Having healthy habits can help ground yourself to your roots and help drive you to overcome whatever difficult conditions arise.

Another way to strengthen your ability to bounce back from a traumatic experience is to establish and hold on to your true friends and keep your family even closer. You are not alone in this world, it's hard to ask for help or just to talk to someone but it certainly makes it easier already having people close to you. It sometimes takes a community to grow and if you're like me you want to charge through life without asking for help once but sometimes you need to realize you may be your own worst enemy and take a step back, connect with your friends and family for advice or to vent to, and move forward.

No matter what life throws at you, stay resilient, stay strong, and stay balanced. We can't predict the future but we can certainly prepare for it.
